Future Fabrication

Pure natural fibres and fabrics will never be dated. Pure fibres can be quite expensive however with the fast-fashion of today the man made fabrics are ideal due to their low production cost.
Fabric for the future will be high-tech. It will no longer just be about the traditional characteristics. It will need a point of difference. Whether it is interactive via light, sound or temperature. For example, fabrics that can either insulate or release heat to regulate body temperature.  It might even have robotics within the garment, causing the fabric to move as the wearer moves, or to change the entire silhouette leaving the wearer with a whole new outfit.

Fabric is also reverting back to manmade texture, digital print is too over done. This can be done through laser cutting, fabric manipulations or embellishment.

At the moment 3D printing and technology is being incorporated into fabric and garments however the level of comfort is being compromised as it is made from plastic. In the future we will see fabrics that provide an element of technology but maintain a good level of comfort and aesthetic appeal.
